Setup Eclipse and Ant

1. Download Eclipse IDE for Java Developers
2. Extract the above tar ball, and copy the extracted directory into /Applications
3. Download Apache Ant
4. Extract the above tar ball, and copy the extracted directory into somewhere like /System/Library/ApacheAnt
5. Edit $HOME/.bash_profile, add
   JAVA_HOME=/Library/Java/Home
   ANT_HOME=/System/Library/ApacheAnt

For Android phone, one can use Alkido as the ebook reader.

To Rip the content of a DVD onto the hard disk, we can use MacTheRipper. This will create a folder called DVD_TITLE.dvdmedia.

To convert the content in a DVD or *.dvdmedia/ into mpeg, we can use HandBrake. Here is a Howto.

To burn a DVD (or CD) from an .iso file:

1. Insert the blank DVD/CD into superdrive;
2. Open "Disk Utility", and click "Burn"
3. In the File selection popup, find the .iso file and select it;
4. OK, OK, and watch the progress bar to finish.

Terminal and tabs

Find the Terminal app in Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal. Click on the Terminal icon to start. 

To change the terminal settings, open Terminal Preferences. You can change the Terminal title from the "Settings" -> "Window" tab in each theme.

To start new tabs, press Cmd - T. To cycle through terminal tabs, the keyboard shortcuts is Cmd - Shift - Left and Right.
